UBSS Online Newsletter - March 2026
The AGM brought the usual mix of democratic proceedings and fun reunions amongst friends. Bristol Caving and UBSS now have newly elected committees - congratulations to everyone who ran, and a sincere thank you to those who handed over the reins. Our local Burrington and the wider Mendip area has been the most popular destination this March! With exploring around our beloved hut, new and old and Aveline’s Hole - a place that reminds us that people have been drawn to these caves for an extraordinarily long time - and there’s still more to find out! And our favourite story from the month- a life-saving trip down Technical Masterpiece. Public Service Announcement, the frog is fine. The cavers should be proud.
You can browse the newsletters using the dropdown lists on the left (or press ‘Menu’ on mobile).
The archive is also searchable.
The Monthly Online Newsletter
Since the beginning of 2019, we have produced a Monthly Email Newsletter which is sent to all members and other interested parties. Contents include the latest caving trips, slander/gossip, information on caving in general and the activities of the Society. Contributions of any nature (illustrations will particularly impress everyone!) are welcome and should be passed either to the newsletter editor or the secretary.
The Printed Newsletter Archive
Prior to 2019, the Newsletters were all in printed form, but all the known issues have been scanned and a full archive is available in this section. These cover the Society’s activities from 1919 to 2017 and are chock-full of interesting articles. Well worth a read.
Many of the printed Newsletters will not show up in the searchable archive; however a full bibliographic index of these has been compiled by Rosie Daniels and can be downloaded from here.
